Pushing the limits of what's possible in energy storage

Zenlabs combines its high energy electrodes and unique technology to build lithium ion batteries with the highest energy density. Zenlabs breaks free from the slow advancement of battery technology, which has plagued so many applications. An added benefit of higher energy density is lower $/kWh. Zenlabs puts more energy into the same physical battery size which means more miles driven or flown per charge.

What’s New

Through an ongoing program with the United States Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC), Zenlabs routinely has its cells evaluated by U.S. National Laboratories. Idaho National Laboratory recently released its ongoing DST cycling data on Zenlabs Electric Vehicle cells (12 Ah pouch cells, 315 Wh/kg). The data (below) shows over 1,000 cycles at C/3 charge rate, and 896 (100%) fast charge (15 minute) cycles.

Zenlabs has developed proprietary silicon-based formulations that offer higher specific capacity, longer cycle life, and lower cost. Zenlabs' anodes are unique in their high loading level and high active silicon content. In addition, Zenlabs has solved the common problems with silicon based anodes such as poor cycling and swelling. Zenlabs combines these high capacity anodes with high capacity cathode materials in large format pouch cells to achieve energy densities that are much higher than what is commercially available.
